v6 re-maps / chips
« on: 12 June 2009, 08:10:24 »

Where to folks get their chips / remaps from for the V6's?

What sort of claimed gains are expected?

What sort of price are we looking at?

So a basic remap would give, what, +20 if you were lucky?

The Vectra GSi (2.5) had 195ish with the 3.0 inlet cams and an SBD remap.

Exhaust + a few more, maybe break the 200 mark?

Then you would have to be in the realms of head work, porting the manifolds and matching them to the heads, get a pair of tubular manifolds made up.

I really struggle to see 250+, it would have to be peaky on some aggressive cams surely? Not what you want with an auto! I can see 220 being attainable without stoopid money. DO you know what the spec was?

Not too much scope for what a chip can do on a NA engine.

On the Omega V6, expect around 5% ish.  If anyone is getting 250 on a rolling road (without major engine work), I would suspect the rolling road is giving figures designed to 'please' the car owner ;)

Agreed, but there are the other usual fringe benefits of improved throttle response, removal of flat spots and improved mpg.

5% - I would settle for another 9bhp!! Should make the 200 attainable with a bit of breathing work.

I think there are as many preferred re-mappers as there are members of the forum - everyone has their own preference.

I had mine done by Courtenay - but that was because I could and had always wanted to take a Vaux I owned there - no more than that!

Plenty of people will let you know who they use and recommend them!

Good luck!

throttle response and flat spots are not a problem for the V6 Omega with fully working multiram system, unlike, for eg, v6 vectra.

mpg, not really any difference that I could tell.

Main difference is a bit more power above 4k rpm

I hope you are happy :)

Not a company I would use, just purely looking at their product range shows to me they do not fully understand the car, thus will never get the best from it.

Interesting comment, one of the most respected VX tuning firms about! What about the V6 do you think that they don't understand?
