Do I have a problem or not??
« on: 15 June 2009, 14:23:17 »

Long story short, I changed the injector seals on my 2.2 diesel, followed directly by changing the turbo (which was knackered). The car runs fine, but just after I did the turbo swap, the exhaust was emitting blue smoke (even at idle). After 50 or so miles I can no longer see smoke ... so does this mean the problem has gone away? It's worrying to think that there's an underlying issue that will cause damage down the line somewhere. It might or might not be pertinent, but I used the How To from this forum on changing the injector seals - ie, not using the Vauxhall tool for retiming the engine, just marks on the cam and cam pulley - and I read somewhere that blue smoke from the exhaust on a diesel could be caused by injection pump being out (which i suppose could be a result of cam being out by a very tiny amount) ... any ideas? Should I be worried?

Changed the 'turbo' on my diesel 2.2 Omega, blue smoke from exhaust for 10 miles, then fine for 15,000 miles, oil had found its way passed a number of seals when changing the unit, scary at the time.

Phew. Nice to know! Thanks mate.

Typical of me, I've bought the proper Vx pin-locking set for over a hundred quid. Just to make sure. To make sure I'm an idiot, probably.
