Coolant level. Warning.

Greetings from sunny west of Scotland,can any one please adivse? coolant level showing on start up check,level is o.k., reasently had cambelt and rocker
gasket replaced,any connection? I'm not a mechanic,
should have said car is an 02,2.2 facelift.

check that the plug on the plug on the water bottle has'nt been pulled off or damaged.

also trace the wires back by hand and see if they have been trapped somewhere

i've got a spare if you need one.  :y

The plug is under the bottle but it's not uncommon for the sensor in the bottle to fail.

pete......... can the pins on the plug be shorted out to prove the wiring ?

pull the plug off the bottom of the bottle and short out the pins with a paper clip mate.  :y

if the fault goes away then pm me and i'll sort you out a bottle  :y

Yep  had mine go last year after a oil cooler went on the car. it as the sensor in the bottel . Got a new one and all was fine. :y

Is the sensor replaceable or is it integral  with bottle?

just had a look at my spare and i would say your better off changing the bottle.
looks like the sensor is fitted at the factory and then the bottle top is stuck on top somehow  :y

has any one got a part no. and aprox price for the bottle, and are they the same on all the engins?

I had the same on my 3.2, changed the head tank with sensor (£30.00 approx from stealer), problem solved :y
