help eml light comes on

hi ive jst changed the alternator connected every thing back up fired her back up and then the eml light came on when it was idling and a bit of a missfire when revving switched off restarted and took for a drive every thing ok untill i stoped at a red light and it reappeared again as before switched off etc and again no light on when driving stopped and light came on again after a few mins of idling
has any 1 had this problem before or know wot it could be wrong? and ive read about the paper clip test could i do that to my car or is it to new? :( :(

Both the 2.2 petrols and diesels need to be put on a code reader to get the codes. One of the admins (Hotel21) isn't too far from you in sunny Fife, worth a PM ;) :y
