Woes, and further woes!
« on: 27 June 2009, 12:51:43 »

Why does everything go wrong at once ?

Just finished the head gasket change and put the engine back together.

Found the breathers were partialy blocked so off with the top again to give them a good clean out.
Yes I know I should have done it before but got carried away with putting things back together.

Got everything clean and back together and found the blocked breathers had made one of the rocker gaskets leak, off it all comes again!

Put it all back together again.
Now running like a complete dog!

After investigation found that number five lead was not pushed fully home. This has somehow strained the DIS pack and burnt out that coil.
New coil on order steakers wanted £159+VAT, eBay 81.50 all in for proper Bosch unit.

And even after all this is finished the wishbones are toast so they need changing as well.

Never ending ......

Thanks all,

already have the wishbones here thanks,
and will need new front tyres,
and have a passenger mirror to fix the broken one,
and a towbar to re-attach,
and the boot lock is full of glass from some b**tard chucking one of those temporary fence base blocks through the rear screen,
and the drivers door does not stay open on the strap,
and some of the AC illum bulbs are blown,
and the ECO switch has melted,
and the AC condensor is fubar,
and the water bottle level sensor plays up,
and the bottom of the car looks like an oil slick,
and the front brakes graunch sometimes.

Still, I don't like to be bored  :D

Oh, and you forgot to mention ........
You'll need a full steering geometric set-up immediately after changing the wishbones and tyres too.
Chin up mate!

Yeah, I know  :(
Changing the drop links as well while i'm under it, they are to cheap to ignore.

But the replacement rad and a/c condensor came today, (thanks vauxmad) yah!
Now I can get it emptied and have working a/c again.
Will post some pics of the VERY tired condensor when I get to it.

And previous owner knew the wishbones were crap.
Found spare wheel looks fine but rubbed raw on the inside edge when you pull it out, bah!

Hey feller.

Wow, thats a healthy list of, ermm...niggles!

Is it a pre/post facelift? I know there was some Omega 'C' switches on ebay a few days ago. If that helps?  :y

Ok, I'm splitting hairs here but:
Omega "A"...was the name of the Carlton in Europe
Omega "B"...is what we know as Omega's ('94>'03)
Omega "C"...no such beast.

Yeah, so they say. But some very prominent manufacturers still list then A,B and C. Plus my Gm brake pads had A Band C on the box. Genuine packaging. Strange.
