I'm seriously considering getting a new backbox for the car, and would love one of those twin pipes like you see on Vectra SRI's.

Would one of thos efit an Omega 2.0, or was there one made specifically for Omegas?

As far as I'm aware, Vectra and Omega backbox's are totally different. If you want a twin tailpiope backbox then there was one for the 3.0 or 3.2. It depends on the age of your car, if yours is a prefacelift the tailpipes are abit shorter...so make sure you get the right one. My 2.2 has two centre sections that fit into the twin inlet on the backbox. However, I have a feeling that the older 2.0's only had one centre section and the twin tailpipe backbox has a twin inlet. Hopefully someone will confirm.

Mine is a pre facelift 1998/99 model. I've been looking at the various backboxes and the SRI one looks a pretty good match in terms of installation to mine, but I want to be absolutely sure before splashing the cash.

The inlet is the most important part to check. What bacbox are you thinking of, is it one on ebay you can post a link up so we can see? You can buy a new backbox from eternalcar for an Omega 3.0 for £45 plus postage which was quite cheap.

I must admit I only know about facelifts really, not much knowledge about pre. But I think the 2nd link you posted is far too wide. Have you had a look at the backbox on your car at the moment from underneath? It fits up a bit into a recess, so the backbox needs to fit into that and also have tailpipes long enough. As said, be much better if someone with a prefacelift could comment.

I'm going to refrain from spending any money until I find out for sure, but thanks for your help. I did a bit of checking and the actual mounting pins fit snugly into a cubby hole. I'm not sure if the backbox I want has pins that are high or wide enough to fit, but the inlet pipe looks like a close match.

I wouldn't want to risk 50 quid on something that I'm not 100% on though.

Having owned two Vectras (one 1.6 16v and one 2.5 V6) and now a couple of Omegas, they are completely different.

The Omega one being long and circular. The Vectra one is shorter and more of an oval shape on the SRi and GSi backboxes. Standard 4-pot ones on the Vectra are even more different

Thanks for your help mate, but I'll still look out for a twin pipe as I do like the look of them. I don't think the ones from  a2.5 or 3.0 will fit at all because of the double pipe.

There is an alternative, is you backbox in bad condition...do you need a new one? You can buy on ebay twin tailpipe finishers. So if you have a single exhaust you can stick it on and it looks like you have a twin exhaust, I suppose that's the cheapest option but not sure what it'd look like. And if you do need a new backbox just buy a single tailpipe one and stick the finisher one. Serach for tailpipe trim or tip or things like that on ebay.

The backbox is not in bad nick, it's just I fancied a twin one as I htink they look and sound good.

Another option is get a custom one made. companies like powerflow - http://www.powerflowexhausts.co.uk/ can make you one with whichever tailpipes you prefer. I think they only do stainless.

Ashley exhausts tend to stick with mild steel as they say it sounds better and gives more power.

Probably both will cost more than twin finishers, but they'll be the real deal. Have fun choosin!
