Lowering Springs - Help?

Hi,

We use one of the ex-police Omega's we have for trackdays and whilst it has been fun cornering on the door handles, it is time to get the suspension upgraded.

The question is...  with what?

Your opinions please?

What experiences have you had with aftermarket springs and suspension kits?

Don't want to spend a fortune, but equally don't want to waste money on crap lowering springs that ruin the ride and make the car handle like poo.....

I drive on PI springs -40mm and KYB shocks
you welcome to come and take for run, will seen if you like :y
 in my opinion car hold better on road now

Anyone else got any experience with lowering or replacement suspension, coilovers, etc?

I lowered my '94 Elite by 40mm. Can't remember what make the springs were.  Monroe shox all round. Almost no body roll yet still a comfortable ride. For a big old barge it handled really well.

Maybe an idea to check all your suspension bushes are in good condition, as any play will not be good !.

There was a link on somewhere on here about replacing them with uprated bushes, and I think they may have been for BMW ??.  Anyone else know where the link is or knows what part numbers are ??.

As for other ideas, really depends on how serious you want to go, and how much money you want to spend at the end of the day.

If you're just going to use the car for track days, why not think about removing some parts to make it lighter; i.e. take all the seats out, and replace the fronts with lightweight front competition seat(s).

Perhaps remove the spare wheel & any other items of weight when your at the circuit, etc.

Just a throught ?!.   ;)

Just brought a set of PI springs for my Facelift MV6 and this is for a 40mm drop.......

If it is for racing then I would certainly consider changing all possible bushes for the poly type (Powerflex or Superflex).

How about uprating the ARB and putting a strut brace in whily you are at it? Whiteline seem to do a good line in these for the Holdens...

I have the poly bushes on my trackday MV6 as i have allways used them on my RS Cosworth and swear bt them to be honest
