Was Auto Now manual

As the readers of my previous posts will know from my 2.5TD (automatic) tractor I was getting average of 22.9 mpg  on Friday I eventually did the manual gearbox conversion  it took me from 11:30 am to 8 pm same day so I don’t think I did to bad …I may add this was carried out on a 4 poster lift in a well stocked garage
The gearing seems about the same as it was 2000 rpm in 5th is just over 60 mph with im happy with
Acceleration from standing start is way better than it was
I also notice the engine does have quite a bit of torque although this will be better hopefully after it has been chipped
Fuel consumption is better ive done about 300 miles since Friday and according to the mid its now on 29 mpg bearing in mind this is very urban and hasen’t been on the open road yet I don’t think its too bad

totally agree!! well done bud not a bad time for changing that lot! now get the chip in and really enjoy the motor!! :y

totally agree!! well done bud not a bad time for changing that lot! now get the chip in and really enjoy the motor!! :y

I was Kna**rd though
Other than The Chip which i still have to get the number for ....whilst i was at it i thought it only right i removed the "viscous" fan ...i replaced it with a 2.0 litre ellectric fan fits nicely down there i also sandwiched 2 more (low profile) fans between the air con radiator and the cooling radiator .....removed the stock 1nes from the front leaving me plenty of room for me intercooler project wach this Space"       "...i did take on board what you said about the 1 in the wing i just like to try new things  ;D ;D

Box
Mounts for box
Pedal box
Hydraulic clutch stuff
Selector + rods/cables

Is there anything else? How did you deal with the auto ECU?

Yup, ripe for chipping now :y

When chipped, the MID will ready overly optimistic mpg (10-15% over), but in my experience does improve real mpg over stock by a very noticable margin. Better MPG and better power/drivability - double whammy :y

I am also thinking of doing this aswell mate on my 3.2.how difficult would you say it was,and what exactly would i need. :y

There is an “how to “ in maintenance guides Written be matchless
This covers the V6’s I believe
To be honest the hardest part for me was getting the clutch pedal from the donor car the slave cylinder is also a swine to fit as it goes behind the brake servo   other than that is all about getting the car over your head 4 poster lift and plenty of tools I cant comment too much on the electrical stuff as all I did was disconnected I think there are 4 electrical plugs on the gearbox 1 is the reverse lights switch 2 selector switch 3 is the switch that tells the box what gear its in and corresponds to the gear selector and 4 controls the electronics wizardry to the solenoids
All ive done for now is re connected the reverse light switch …put the selector switch on the gearbox in park ….so the engine would start and off it went ….a “Manual omega”
Machless’s guide does cover the electrics and it is simple I just couldn’t be arsed that day I was tired out
Basically if you can chance a clutch you can do this

Used  to have  two v6 and they roared
Now got 2.5 to Opel

May i add all joking apart the Brake pedal is easy to change the clutch pedal is a pain in the ass
