Multi-Ramp Clarification.
« on: 20 July 2009, 21:06:28 »

Could someone please expalin EXACTLY what the MultiRam does, why and how.

I'm sure mine works perfectly BUT I'm curious as to exactly what it does...Apart from kicking in at around 4500RPM, whistling and given the car one hell of a boost.

The short answer is when the intake valves close the air travels back up the air intake. What VX are trying to do is make the length so that when it bounces back from the other side, it should come back down and be at the valves when they open again. This is called tuned air-intake. The multiram allows the length of this to be changed as the air travels at different speed for different revs.

Hope that makes sense!

It's a development of the Dual Ram system used on the 24v Carlton / Senator and many other makes of car have similar systems to vary the intake geometry for different engine operating conditions.

Thats a cracking read. With the converstion into my astra, i dont have the multi-ram system installed all solenoids are still there as to not throw up the EML and the intake part of the system is obviously still there and opens and shuts when it should. Never understood what it was i was actually missing out on...... i do now
