Personal opinion but, unless it was silly low miles, I wouldn't be fitting a used clutch once gone to trouble to take g/box off, especially in a  wrong wheel drive car...  :y

Whose car are you refering to James? My Astra?  :-/
Boilerman is talking about his Omega, I'm saying that I should have looked before I forked £100 uneccessarily on a clutch that turned out to be not needed!
The kit from the local motor factor didn't come with a slave/thrust just the flex/spring plate & friction plate.

I agree in principle - you don't really want to change an Astra G's clutch, you've to remove the front subframe  :-? - but I could have spent the £100 on me!  :y  :y  :y  :y

I'm a bit confused now guys :-/

Anyway, just going back to the Clutch/Brake Res'
I take it, that although they are combined they split inside the res'.
i.e. I couldnt be loosing the fluid on a brake pipe?

It does seem strange that the levels inside the res' are different. The centre circular plastic section seems higher than the surrounding level. :-/

Yes! There's a 'wall' in the middle. You should be able to see through the reservoir enough to see which side you're loosing fluid from. I'm sure you said before it was the clutch side ie where the hose comes from the side. You've got brake fluid dripping down from the bell housing .... it'll be your slave cylinder.  ;)  :y

Crikey, is that still the case if you lift the engine out?

I know your proberbly right :(. Just trying to convince myself it could be something simple. It never is though.

Thanks for all your help Andy B.

By the way you were a big help last year. When I was looking at fitting a tow bar. For my estate, don't know if you remember. That one went well.  :y

Pity I haven't got a clutch to tow with now ::) ;)

If you have any boiler problems, let me know. I'm often in Bury

If the engine's out you can split the engine from the gearbox. But I think you probably find it's easier to remove it all in a downward direction anyway. If you do, don't think you can ignore the clamp at the bottom of the steering column ... like me!  ::) IIRC it's only 4 (maybe 6) bloody big bolts up into the chassis to remove it all.  :y
