is this normal???
« on: 27 July 2009, 19:36:04 »

my 3.0 elite auto is doing and average 20.8mpg, is this normal?
thats using it for work, 10 mile trips on country roads and 30mph villages but also motorways on the weekend.
also most the roads around here are 40mph but its not happy doing 40.
the auto box changes up and down as though 40mph is between 2 gears.
as ive never had an auto i dont know if thats normal or not.

anyone know?  :y

Are your breathers cleaned out?
I get around 22 mpg knocking about 32 on a run :y

Its not far off normal, I also get around 22 average.
It probably needs a service, check the air filter and fit some new plugs as a first step.

Over the past 2,500 miles, my MV6 has used just under 100 gallons, and averaged 25.7mpg

I have a heavy foot, and see a fair bit of traffic, but that motor must be out of tune!

I have used £10 (so approx 2.25 gallons) of unleaded to do 21 miles on my MV6 before ::)

My 3.0 auto dithers around 40mph too, must be a female car, cant make up its mind!  :D :o ;D

From what i hear, a software update sorts it out, hope to have mine done this weekend, will post back my findings.

As for mpg, i was averaging 20mpg to work on a 50 mile round trip into Bristol each day (mix of A road and heavy traffic), had a full service and cam belt change over the weekend (old belt was a full tooth out!) and im getting 25 now!

Make sure you check all the obvious stuff - tyre pressure, air filter, correct oil level etc), put the climate control on econ too if you dont need the ac, makes a difference too.

Cheers!
