well there commercial ones I have seen you either spray down the vents, or my preferred bomb type where you leave the aircon on, on full, on recirc mode, and release the aerosol bomb in the back, and leave the car running and closed for 15 mins.

Yes I have used these too Jmbob . I wanted to spray direcetly on to the evaporator , not sure spraying in to the vents is any use as this will blow the spray away from where  I want it to go .

I did think about spraying it down the inlet after removing the pollen filter as this in my theroy should some how go over the evaporator .

Yup, removing the pollen filter and spraying down the inlet is the way to go!  Have had some success using a Lavender air freshener placed in the air intake for 'niffy' cars.  A dodge my mate Arfur Daly showed me!!!!! ;) ;)

The evaporator is located under the dash on the passenger side and is in a plastic case, you need the bomb type air con deodoriser and follow the instructions on the tin :y
