2.2dti fuel consumption

hi ,my fuel consuption has dropped to about 24-25mpg around town according to computer ,car also feels flat could this be clogged egr,what else affects fuel consumption ,what should it be doing on stop start runs

Mine does 33/35 local and around 40/42 on a speed legal run.  Faulty egr would bring on engine management light.  Probably mass airflow meter as this does not bring on light.  Try unplugging it to see if it runs any better.  If it does, the maf is faulty :y

ok thanks ,no em light on, it was doing 35mpg when i had it a yr ago its been doing 28/29 but recently dropped to 25/26

Gummed up swirl flaps will also cause this.
