Wanted- pictures of underside engine/gearbox(auto)
« on: 12 August 2009, 22:31:09 »

Looking to identify what the two torx bolts are (c.10mm) that  hang downwards to the rear of the engine.  Does anyone have any photos of the underside.

Nothing seen in the guides, I can't make out from just looking which surfaces these are and what the bolts hold.

Seem to have drips of something brown (light weight, doesn't smell of anything at all) accumulating on these bolt heads.

Hi John
I had the same symptom as this http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1223978808 which turned out to be the rear crankshaft seal. here is my thread http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1238575229/0. Firstly though make sure it is oil and not ATF, and also check that it is not coming from higher up e.g. cam cover gasket failure.
Good luck
Pat

or coolent? Brown liquid, does it match whats in the coolent bottle?(needs changing by the sound of it) Most coolent leaks drip off those 2 bolts if bad enough. Does the level keep dropping?

Could be ATF

Wakeyomega - yes those two bolts (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1223978808) - just like that, well not so bad.
What is that thiner block part of and what do those bolts hold?

Chris - doesn't look or smell like coolant ought to.  I might be in trouble here if that's my coolant.  I'll have to check that out. Not had this one long enough to see if the level is dropping - it was full enough last weekend and looked bright pink from the outside.

If its ATF I may get stuck on my jollies.

What colour do expect PAS fluid to be - just know that it had some work done involving the PAS pump removal the other week.

dont think that its anything to do with your pas, to far away to make a leak visible there. Looks defo like atf.

.
Probably not coolant then. Oil, coolant and atf all possible ime. The fact its difficult to distinguish between the 3 is strange.

Well the latest.  Sorry should have got back earlier.

Still can't tell yet if its oil or atf as it doesn't smell of anything, looks the same colour as the engine oil but looks thinner like aft - maybe has a slight tinge to it (not sure).

Last night I thought it was crank seal - almost convinced.

This morning, well could be the gearbox seal.

Need to use it hopefully it will be okay (but I will be missing).

Does anyone fancy a job - looks like the g/box is coming off regardness - just don't know which seal to get as yet.

If no one fancies a job - any recommendations for me.
