loss of power
« on: 18 August 2009, 14:24:14 »

Greetings and salutations.
I would like to ask for help with my 2.5 V6 Omega B wagon. It seem to be somewhat slow. I do not know how to describe it, but I think I feel some power loss. On first two gears it accelerates well, but than it seems to be dead. I drove a 2.0 Omega and it accelerated much better.
Futhermore, when I drive it to light hill with low rpms, I feel some losses of power, like it is V5...
I tried to change sparks and air filter, but I wanted to ask for some suggestions to make it more alive :)
Thanks for any advice and sorry for my bad english

Do the paperclip test (see the link at the bottom of my post) and report back the codes :y

Mine also seems a little slow.
Welung I know that I have a problem with camshaft sensor. It reports "Camshaft position sensor No signal, not present" but there is no EML light on. Can this cause any loss of power?

Hi. Thank you for very quick response.
I have tried it and if I count it well, I got following codes:
12
129
132
31
If I undestand it well, 12 is start of the sequence, 31 is normal for V6 shut down. 129 and 132 is low or bad EGR feedback singal. But I do not know, what it is? :)
I would like to ask another question too. I have read here, that for 2.5 (and 3.0) it is better to use 2.6 or 3.2 exhaust manifold and decat it. It is better for 2.5 to use 2.6 (and 3.2 is for 3.0), or should I get this from 3.2 too?
Thank you for your response

I would also like to note, that sometimes during drive, the EML lights on for a while and ABS and TC is on all the time. When I was in garage, they told me that I have bad electronics and the ABS and TC are ok.

If ABS is lit that usually means problem with ABS ECU, I've read somewhere that it seems to be common problem with Migs.
If you are certain that the EGR is reported you can clean it (will probably cure it). There is a guide in maintenance section

Sounds like your egr is fuba. you could block it off see if that makes a difference, have you checked the cabel is on and not damaged? and that the gasket between the egr and pleunum is ok?

Thanks for response :)
At first, I have to say I am complete noob about cars :)
So I didnīt check any cables or plenum. I have a friend who is car repairman, but he does not have time to check it. So I tried to get some suggestions, so we can check directly what can be a problem :)
ABS/TC is always on. Speedo is working, only few times (cca 1 time in a month, usualy in rainy weather) it suddenly drops and I have to shut the engine and start it again to start speedo working again.
I would like to ask what is EGR (or what it should do). My english is bad, so I will try to find it by description :)

Once again, thanks for help

Sounds like you might want to have your ABS ECU checked / repaired / changed  :-/

ABS ECU is knackered mate - needs repair/replacement (used unit from a scrapper)

EGR - on left side of engine when standing in front - undo two torx screws holding and remove.  Blank off hole and refit - reconnect elecrics.  Try now :y
