Hmmmmmmmm my brother has had 2 range rovers, the last was a 3.9(i think) with LPG conversion, big gas tank on it. He asked me to drop him off at bournemouth airport once, 30 miles there and 30 miles back again. Had 5 people and holiday luggage on the way to airport, and just me on the way back.
Gas tank was full when we left. Empty when I got back !!  max speed I did was 75mph.

Hmmmm.....let me see.

The Range Rover gearboxes are shite at the best of times and struggle to handle the torque of the V8 (hence why they dont last long off road)......putting double the horse power through it isnt wise.....

Plus, what good about 400hp when its strapped to a boat like a Range Rover!

And at that price there is a lot better cars to spend your money on...

See a few of these as they're only up the road from me - being "run in" on the bypass mostly ;)

We'll see if we can blag a test drive next time you're over, James? I'll get me green wellies out ;D

Not much point trying to make something that big go quick IMHO. They must be incredibly thirsty.

Take the engine and build an Ultima round it :y

Why do these 'tanks' have so much appeal to so many people? I've never felt the slightest degree of excitement when looking at them, or when I've been treated to the occasional ride.
I had the use of a Rexton for two weeks as an insurance courtesy car 6 months ago, and I couldn't wait to give it back. Not once did I feel comfortable in it.
Am I just a crank, or do others have similar feelings about them?

No real appeal to me. 4wd tanks have a place, and that is off road! 4wd drive cars are a different matter entirely.

Now a status symbol for mums on the school run.

Pointless for the road, and generally VERY badly driven.

no offense ..

I think these cars are good if you live in a village and drive mostly where theres no road..

In the city these become very dangerous similiar a shotgun in hands of bad drivers as they are very heavy and fast..

I don't know if it's just me but, whilst there are some pretty cars and some ugly cars, 4x4's, pickup trucks, SUVs, etc. all fall into the latter category with me. I am just never roused by the styling of any of them, I guess because they are by necessity a box on 4 wheels with lots of junk bolted to the outside. I can't get excited about any of them.

I guess I could probably appreciate a capable 4x4 off-road (not something I've ever tried) but then what does it matter what it looks like? Nice army surplus Landy would suit me fine. Having driven them on-road there's no way on earth I'd use one as a daily driver.

Price of them is dropping quickly. I can get an 07 5.7 Monaro for 21k.
I did consider one as my company car... (I get a budget and can buy whatever I want) but the cost in fuel (and tax) over a year for me was a little excessive!  ;D

I wonder how long Marks DTM will be able to resist the temptation....?  ;)

If this car was around me and I have enough to pay..I wont think for another second..

And if the fuel was excess better stay in front my house than from my mind  ;D
