Temperature not working

Hi all the temp on my dads miggy aint working.Iv looked at all the wires and they all look ok.Can anyone tell me what it could be

probably the sensor itself.

only £6 for a new one, on the front bumper

in that case, is the wire still attached to the sensor,

what engine is it? there are a few sensors iirc

its a 2.0 16v engine.Could it be the sensor on the rad

The Rad sensor is easy to change, and available from every scrappy. That is where I would start. Could be something else though, do all the other instruments work?   ::)

We need to tie down whats not working....

Outside air temperature information on the in car display?
Engine operating temp guage on the dashboard?
Internal cabin heating?

Best clarify before we start guessing....   :y

No 1 suspect is the single wire that clips on (sideways) to the temperature sender on the coolant bridge.

As Andy H says. To test the gauge, find the temp sensor, take the single wire off it and touch it to ground/earth/zero volts/whatever-you-want-to-call-it and your gauge should go all the way to HOT!


Go from there.  :y

I believe the problem is the wire has come of the temp sensor. I think the position of this sensor is like on my car, at the back of the engine close to egr valve. The same thing happened to me when the mechanic was replacing the head gasket (wire poped of)
