Gloucester is OK, but Cheltenham is a little bit better.

What do you actually want to look at?

Then we can point you

DIY?
(B&Q at the cattle market Gloucester)

Electrics?

Modelling?

Clothes?

Regents arcarde in Cheltenham
Kings Walk and the one opposite in Gloucester

Use the park and ride into CHeltenham from the old Dowty site at the end of the Golden Valley Bypass

For car shopping Twigworth Breakers and Harry Bucklands are good

Sorry Pete

Only just read the thread. The best place I found to stay in Gloucester was the Holiday Inn at Quedgely. It's a travel lodge type place and was quite reasonable, there is also a decent pub next door, The Bumble Bee, which does decent meals. I did try other B & B type places but they were all truly awful.

As for shopping, you can't go wrong with the centre of town.

Quedgley - I noticed they replaced the roundabout with a silly traffic light junction.

My dad used to work opposite the Rugby ground

THere is a motel place as well at Longford and that is nearer than Quedgley

It's a bit old though and the restaurant isn't very nice. You are right however, it is a couple of miles closer to the hospital.  :y

There is another in Twigworth more or less opposite the church - just up from Bamfords, that I think is quite nice - I have ate there.
