Stalling
« on: 24 August 2009, 17:55:59 »

My Omega developed a fault today, it stalled twice at traffic lights, turned the key and it starts fine, but no clue as to why it would start stalling all of a sudden?
Any Ideas folks
Thanks

ICV common on 2.0l - clean it.

Faily that, does it hunt a bit at idle?

ICV = Idle Control Valve (sometimes also IACV, 'Air' being the extra word)

Excellent guide here:

Just cleaning the ICV is in my experience unlikely to fix the fault.  It's all about the breather jet into the upper part of the inlet manifold being clear, as well as the hose to it, and the nipple on the camcover.  Guide explains it all.

It is possible to clear this jet without unbolting it, but rather fiddly, to put it mildly.  Getting the hose off and on in-situ is hard enough, unless you have very slender fingers.

Please forgive my continued ignorance, What does hunting mean? and also, my good lady now informs me that it stinks of FRESH fuel
The plot thickens, cannot wait till Loo Knee gets his hands on it in two weeks time, if it will get from South Wales to Stoke

  I think I'm right in saying its a fuel/air mixture problem :).
