Hello everyone. The Miggy has developed a missfire this afternoon. It was missfiring when at idle and when driving around town, but on hard accelleration it seemed to clear only to return when I eased back on the throttle. However it's missfiring all the time now. Any suggestions anyone?

Have you done the paperclip test to see if you have any codes?

Also pull out the plug leads and see if they are clean ( not full of oil)

I had a similar prob and eventually changed the air flow sensor which seemed to fix it. :)

In my experience of misfires, it has always been down to plugs or leads. The last misfire I had was down to a loose spark plug! I left them until last as I didn't think it could possibly be plugs. I changed dis pack and leads and eventually found loose plug.
The whole thing has now cost me a nearside cat  :'( :'(

Also just had same problem with my Elite. Plug wells full of oil due to camcover gasket failure which may have caused my DIS pack and one plug to fail. New gaskets, breather clean out, oil change, plugs, leads and DIS pack later all well as Loo-Knee will testify as he spent two days rectifying faults! :y

Forgot to mention.... did paperclip test before work done and no fault codes. :o :y

Just Checked the plug well on the (easy) drivers side ::)all seems well. paper clip test results :

Tried the pedal trick but the car symble withe the bandage does not illuminate at all :-/

12is start / End of reading.
31 is no rmp signal, normal engion is not running.
41 cant find it you might of read it wrong
each code commes 3 times.
check the hard side also for oil in the plug wells. its a pita but al least you can be sure.

Sussed it I think, broken H.T lead. The most inaccessable one  >:(what would be the best way of going about replacing it(plenum off) ?baring in mind I've got hands like bunches of bananas :-/

 Pedal trick works on drive-by-wire (2.6 and 3.2) V6s, everything else needs paperclipping IIRC. Apart from the 2.2s which usually need a code reader.

 Wipers and scuttle off, plenum off, get as many wires and pipes moved over as you can. :y

Off on just a slight tangent, to the best of my knowledge the car with the bandage sign on the dash has never illuminated when you turn the key to position two unlike all the other warning/test lights. Is this the norm? or have I got a bulb "out" :-/

Finally got a chance to fit the h.t. lead that Mutantcav kindly sent me yesterday. Still no joy  >:( Its still missing. Took the plug out to check it and it was wet. I'm now at a loss. Any ideas anyone?
