Would it fail M.O.T if?
« on: 09 September 2009, 16:45:40 »

The Low beam fld/vision was showing on display?
this appears as soon as you switch on ignition and before you activate the lights.....
I did get a help request off Jimbob a while ago as he's local but never got round to it....

cant see why.as long as the beams is right.that's what they look for.someone might know different.if in doubt ask the mot test station before you take the car in

Ok thanks for that. Never thought of going to ask first Doh!   one question though... why does the display come on before switching on lights?

Someone else will have to answer that.but i know on Citroens  as soon as start the car the headlights adjust themselves.something to do with self levelling suspension settings

Itcould be either of the level sensors on the front or rear near side suspension or the level motor in either of the head lights. You ideally need a code reader on you car to ask it why the message is appearing.  :y

My Tractor went through the MOT with this fault.  From memory it relies on the sensors on the suspension to do the clever height adjustments (I used to love stopping briskly and watching them correct themselves)...  but if it detects an error drops both lamps into a default position - and I think that's what mine passed the MOT with.

Cue someone who knows better to explain what really happens :)

handy to now it 'can' pass an mot like this.

we are chucking the comp on it Friday evening and can see what its not happy with, so with a bit of luck it can be sorted.

Be good to fix, I had this myself for long enough, but wasnt bothered over the summer....getting darker again now so a different story.

Had a look, and nothing I can see to quickly fix  :'(

Total number of fault codes: 7

B3440 - Right Servomotor (Terminal 2 And/Or Terminal 4), Malfunction
 (00) - Not present

B3432 - Headlamp Control, Circuit Open
 (00) - Not present

B1424 - Power Supply, Low Input
 (00) - Not present

B3406 - Right Servomotor Position Sensor, Power Supply Range/Performance
 (00) - Not present

B3407 - Right Servomotor Position Sensor, Power Supply Low Input
 (00) - Not present

B3402 - Right Servomotor Position Sensor, Signal Low Input
 (00) - Present

B3410 - Front Car Level Sensor, Signal Low Input
 (00) - Not present

The live data shows....

Identifier: 0002

CalibrationDate: 001123

Measuring blocks information:

Power Supply      13.6 V
Engine Start      Inactive
Low Beam      On  12V
Vehicle Speed Input      0 km/h
Front Car Level Sensor      1.6 V
Front Suspension Compression/Rebound      - - - Steps
F. Car Level Sensor  Basic Position (Front)      2.7 V
Rear Car Level Sensor      2.9 V
Rear Suspension Compression/Rebound      - - - Steps
R. Car Level Sensor  Basic Position (Rear)      2.3 V
Left Servomotor  Function      Inactive
Left Servomotor      3.0 V
Left Servomotor  Basic Position      3.0 V
Right Servomotor  Function      Inactive
Right Servomotor      0.0 V
Right Servomotor  Basic Position      3.0 V
Telltale (Check Light)      ON

So there is something up with the right headlight, suggested taking it out, checking it over and cleaning up all contacts.

If all else fails, prob new light time...

Anyone got any better ideas?

Hi I have an idea, take out the motors on both sides they just turn to un clip them, see if they are at the same hight as each other if not ou need a new 1 as the cog inside has gone, seen this before, happens on bump'y roads with the lights on or even a big pot hole jumps the cog. hope this helps :y

Hello Rusty..
This is my car the previous thread is talking about.
I wouldn't have a clue how to remove motors from the headlights.  Having said that I havn't taken the lights out to check though...
Probably just take a chance and and buy a secondhand unit to save all the messing abaout.. :o

Only banking on getting the one to be honest.
I shall attempt to remove the headlight just for curiosity sake to see how complicated things are....
