Hello I am new to this site and would be grateful for any advise / help on headlight adjustment to self leveling lights? Mine seem to be pointing too low and I cannot get them to rise. Please help would using one of these tech 2 devices work or would it only tell me the fault? :-?

Have you got the Low beam/field vision message on the display?

Oh right, are you sure that they are Xenon lights and are self adjusting?  Has it got headlight washers? What year/model is it, you may want to update your profile to let people know what you are driving and where you are based.

              Its an M plate 2.5 V6 auto. It does not have xennon lights but I have been informed that early modeels were fitted with self leveling lights and this seems to bee the problem as the actuators will not allow me to adjust them up. I need to know if I can tweek them electronically to raise the beam height?

Hi, there should be 2 adjuster screws on each light at the top. Connected by a metal rod to a white plastic cap. turn the inner one, (screw head not white plastic bit) to adjust the hight of the beam.

                   These screws have been adjusted to their maximum. What I need to be able to do is adjust the actuators to the self leveling as they are pointing too low?

These headlights do NOT have self leveling.

They do have a manual level setting on the in cabin light switch....this sould be set to 0

Yes it does have a three position setting but this is at zero. If I try any of the other setting I might as well use a candle its that bad!!!

Please can any body help with this? I am unable to raise the height of the headlight beam. The car has leveling headlights but cannot get the beam up tried manual adjusters to thier max but still too low please help?

Try taking the rubber cover off one of the lights and see if the lense assembly inside moves if you wiggle it. It will move very slightly but anything more would indicate that either the adjusters have broken or at least have come apart. Let us know how you get on.

Hi Al Thanks for the interest as this is puzzling me. Yes I have checked that the actuators are connected to the light assy. Do you know if there is any way I can adjust them electronically?

Just a thought but when you keep saying you have leveling lights have you upgraded your lights to hids? If so you will need the old motors from your old lights as the Hid ones are different as they have extra inputs for the load leveling system.

edit..    dont suppose new motors would connect to your old loom anyway, but not sure.

                     Yes all mountings have been checked for location and ok. It just seems that the beam has gone out of alignment. There is plenty of light from the lenses but not high enough to use for driving. I do not know if there is any different adaptors available to attach the sockets to the actuators as the headlamps are not the original ones as the had ti be replaced for an mot. I am desparate to get this solved as with the nights drawing in this makes it imposible to drive as is.

Most common cause for this on newer projector type lights is the internal adjusters shatter. Other than that there is very little else I can think of. Were the new lights like this when you fitted them? Or has it just appeared? Are both adjusters on each light free to move and do they actually adjust the beam angle. Inner is for L/R outer is for U/D.
