Upgrading Police Spec 3.2, Cruise, Htd Seats help.
« on: 24 January 2009, 19:07:29 »

New to the forum, i am sure this will be long term guidance with my new ride. I have just bought a 2002 3.2 police spec. estate car. I will be collected next weekend.

A couple of questions, i have read various threads about the simple upgrade for the cruise control, has anyone done this on a police spec. car ?

Has anyone with a police spec car found that it has heated seats they just need wiring up ? (wishful thinking)

Its fairly low mileage 58,000 anything i should get done before i start using it as my daily ride (3000 miles a month) ?

The service history is with it, but it only says basic items ie completed 20,000 mile or 40 or 60 or 80 service etc.

many thanks for any advice.

I don't imagine it would be any different to a non-plod car... let us know how you get on.

I'd start with a cambelt, waterpump and kit, just for peace of mind. And a full service, plugs, filters, brakes, etc. Then see about getting it to WheelsInMotion for a full geometry check...

No heaters in plod seats, just changed mine for heated leather, added seats and switches (drivers not working :-( , have to get my meter out ) Traction control wires were cut at back of switch, now soldered back on. Traction control only switches off  when the headlights are off (then stays off when lights turned on !) presume this stops you crashing in the dark ! lol

3.2 ave 33mpg and 37mpg on motorway at 70/80, better on fuel than my 2.5 auto by a long way.

Does anybody know what the plod have done with the door/ interior lights as they have a mind of thier own)

i cant get my throttle cable off the ball because the connecting ball joint thing with the clip has been deformed by a monkey lol!

That sounds like a manual cable assembly.

If your throttle assembly is operated by a standard (pull/release bowden type) cable as opposed to electrically connected, then its not DBW and cruise requires the complete actuator gubbins as per the fitting guide howtoo, with no Tech2 use....

think your a bit confused here matey. The TC switch lights up with the headlights, just like the Radio/dash does. If u press it and the TC light comes up on the dash thats when the TC is off ;)
