Just done my r/box gasket on my 2.5 v6 and thought I'd cleaned out all the oil from the s/p/wells but it appears that i havent done a good enough job as i think the plugs are covered in oil again as its running like a pig again.
 Going too have another go in the morning and change the plugs but before i put the new ones in i want to make sure these arent going to get coated in oil too, so any advice would be great

If the plugs were previously cleaned out, but now they have oil around them again, then I would suggest the cam cover gaskets have not been sealed correctly.

Did you use Vx gaskets and black sealant? :-/ :-/   I note you use the singular term "gasket"; did you replace both banks gaskets? :-/

yes both banks have been done but the s/p/wells were swimming in oil to the extent that BP was offering to send a tanker around to get the oil out

Did you use a torque wrench to do the cam covers to 8Nm?

Yes they where torked up.
 The oly thing that i didnt change at the time were the plugs, as i thought i could try the old uns first after a clean  but it appears they need changeing too  as the car will start and then cut out if you try and get it to idle.

As for the poor idling, it may be you have trapped the wire at the front of the passenger engine bank between the cam cover and the engine   Check for codes

Loo Knee did mine other week  but he was particularly careful to make sure they seated together correctly and nothing trapped, which sounds favorite to me as even fitting non VX gaskets wouldnt leak like so badly in a few days unless they were totally rubbish I did buy some copies and they looked pretty good to be honest compared to the genuine ones !
