Dip stick tube.
« on: 02 October 2009, 11:53:16 »

Have a 51 plated 2.6 60,000 miles.
Oil cooler went on it so right mess, just hope it doesn't happen to anyone else, spent a week stripping all coolant pipes off and cleaning and flushing the rad. Only real problem I had was trying to get the dip stick tube out to get the thermostat off, in the end I twisted it out the way.
New water pump and cam belt at the same time all back together started her up great no problem till after a couple of minutes oil started to appear just to the right of the crank pulley.
Have stripped it all down again no oil from the crank oil seal or the oil pressure switch next to it, no oil coming from rocker cover gaskets.
The only thing I can think of I have damaged the seals on the dip stick tube, but how the hell does it come out because it will not pull out I have spent 3 hours today trying to get it out, it is really loose and can turn it round but I can't push it in or pull it out..

They do just pull out - eventually.
Could you have split the tube when twisting it about?
