misfire/idling

hi am getting slight misfire holding back and also erractic idling which can range from 600-1400 depends wat mood its in..done paper clip test with codes 57&74..57 is idle air control voltage low and 74 being mass air flow sensor volt high which means nothing to me..anybody got ne ideas on fix etc?  many thanx for your input david

sounds like you have a bit of muck in the  tank vent valve regulator next to the DIS on mine, just take it of removing the pipes and blow in the pipes and the regulator, then spray abit of WD40 in it and shake it out should be ok then :y or know as the evaporative emission systerm purge valve, left hand side at back of engine on 2.5 :y

where would the dis be on a v6 and what does this vent thing look like...sorry im sounding dumb but this cars doin me head in :o

Its at the back of the engine on the left hand side, black with a wire going into it with two pipes coming out about and inch and half long square top dose that help :y

idle air controle valve sets the tick over speed on the v6. It plugs into the right side of plenum(bit with eco tech printed on it) and sits above the cable tray forward of the oil filler cap, about the size of a silver mustard pot, with an electical plug on the back.

Check the plug and wiring but its usually a case of removing, soaking the insides with carb cleaner, lube with light oil and re fit, possibly repeat the process  a couple of times before it settles down. But the fact its thrown a code may mean its buggered. See what others say.

thanx chris..icv was siezed and wouldnt turn.managed to free off tho but there are some burrs on it..cud this cause misfire etc aswell..car really getting on me nerves now which is a shame cus really like it wen running ok its just these two issues to cure..david

Don't forget the fuel filter! This is sometimes overlooked as a cause of poor idling/running. :y
