HELP! locked out!
« on: 06 October 2009, 20:58:28 »

Hi all, i have a problem with my Elite, i havent had a chance to look at it yet but i went to get something out of my car this morning and pressed the button on the key and nothing! so i got the spare key out thinking the battery might have gone, but that was the same...i then tried the key in the lock but its dead locked so no joy, i parked the car up at the weekend and nothing seamed amiss, so has anyone had this happen to them? if so how did you get in? would laying under the car and putting 12v to the starter to put power into the system work? please help!!

You can unlock via key still, even though deadlocked.  If batt falt or motor failed, it will be VERY stiff, but it should still unlock.

If it is an estate then the key should work in the tailgate. Ours does.

It certainly could be if mine was anything to go by, but as TB states it will open but the buttons may not come up! :o :o ;)

Yes, apparently you can input a power supply via the starter motor terminals if required ;) ;)

Yes! But Jamie's method should work  .... in theory ;). Having said that I couldn't get into my deadlocked car and no amount of forcing the key would open it. I had the option of a boot lock, but you don't with a facelift.  :y  :y

I'd crawl under the car.  ;)  ;)  ;)

Do'nt be fooled, as I said the button may very well NOT jump up, but the door could well be unlocked!!!!!!!!! ;) ;)

As already stated. Key in lock turn to unlock, when resistance is felt, turn through it. It`ll take some force and the doorpin won`t pop up but the door will unlock

well when you say it moves abit but not enough to open the door with the key, it can mean that it is that type, allso, the key will be magnetised, the car lock is magnetised the same amount, when you put key in the door it is classed as emergency unlock but if the key has become un magnetised it will not let you open the door :y main reason the key de-magnetied is leving them near to tv's or on top of the fridge. :y
