2.5 V6 ICV setting.

Hi all, can anyone tell me if the icv valve bit inside the chamber should be easy to move when off the car. When taken off the car it was open slightly although the engine was hot. We have a hot running problem still so we are cleaning icv again. what is the adjuster screw on the outside there for if it is supposed to be set at a certain gap. I thought I read on the forum somewhere that the valve should be shut when engine is warm. :-/

it should freely move, flat head screw driver should be able to rotate it easy, don't try the small area, the larger area at the back of the icv, push firmly in and pull up and down, the valve should rotate with ease. And always return to the closed position

mine never did, but then i always had agro with it, it wouldn't just die, but played up every couple of months, so i just kept cleanig it and it would settle down.

The screw on the side was set in resin on mine, so i never got to play with it....

I seem to remember they should?  :-/ if not fully closed just a tiny bit open, i can't remember!

I seem to remember they should?  :-/ if not fully closed just a tiny bit open, i can't remember!
mine would show a 0.5 to 1.0 gap (at a distant guess) presumed that to be correct as the idle would settle once cleaned??????

Should add, not to stick any thing to sharp in the smaller outlet to engine side that can damage or chip the edge of the valve face, i managed to chip mine doing exactly as your asking, made it stick and had to file it flat, a right fidldle....as tunnie says, and not metal if at all possible :y

Thanks all, the screw on the side of ours did have resin in it but we thought it was a bodge job by previous owner so cleaned it out. Would like conformation if there should be a gap or not :-/.

There should be a small gap.....and there is no adjustment as the engine ECU looks after all that
