LPG Insurance - sorted

Called Directline yesterday.

Me: "Hi, I need to make you aware that my car has been converted to run on LPG".

Them: "Ok Sir, no problem. Can you confirm where the install took place, and if it was fitted by a professional?"

Me: "Of course, the install took place in a garage, and was indeed carried out by profesionals"

Them "That's great sir, we have amended your policy. There is no extra charge and the new documents are in the post"



Well..... I didn't lie. The install Did take place in a garage (Kevin's) - and as far as I know, Kev, Markie and Myself are all professionals  ::)

mine were the same just had to confirm that it had been done by a qualified mechanic within a garage

I am and it was  :y :y :y

Still i want to get it certified though just to know that it is in order

James are you going to tell DVLA that it is now dual fuel?

TD how did you get on with that after? Did it reduce your tax?

If you insure online with Admiral or Elephant (same company really), just select "yes" for the option to declare modifications, then tick the box that says "low pressure gas". No questions asked. I think it does increase the premium very slightly though.

You can download the form to change taxation class from the dvla website.
Then you have to take filled in form with lpga certificate and invoice for doing the conversion and current tax disk to nearest dvla office (Bristol in my case)
Then they check details......give you a refund on any months left on old tax disc and issue another.
V5 then gets sent back to you.

At LOT of faffing about to save a fiver a year.......YUP thats about the discount......so I couldnt be bothered!

Tho might when i come to sell it.......as it should, once reclassed, be exempt from LCC, so a good selling point  :y

I've got the certificate through

It says

Modifications -

LPG Conversion (LPGA Approved Installer)
