help please, major oil leak on my 2.0 omega
« on: 08 October 2009, 18:57:37 »

first of all hi to every one ;D
i have just bought myself a 2.0 ecotec omega t reg from my local auction house on the spur of the moment as it was to cheep to be true. well i get it home and discover it leaking oil badly from the front n/s of the engine so i seach for a forum and find you guys anyway searched the forum and decided it might be the breather system and cam cover gasket. so replaced main breather pipe at n/s of engine as it was blocked and very rusty next changed cam cover gasket as there was some oil in the spark plug wells, and cleaned the breather pipes at the o/s of the engine but its still got a leak it seems to be coming from behind the power steering pump, oil presure switch and dipstick do not apear to be leaking ,is there any thing else in that area that might be at fault,i have cleaned the whole engine but i cant find where its leaking from as there is too much in the way,and it only starts leaking at full temp any ideas please... :( :-/...........

wash the lump down at your local jet wash. avoid plugs etc then youll see where its coming from.

i  have washed it down with gunk and the block is clean but i cant see because it is leaking from behind the power steering pump/air con compressor and i would have to remove these to see ,thanks anyway
no one had this problem?i am thinking head gasket but there is no oil in the water or vice versa is this possable? :'( :'(

It is but there are other possibilities too.  Might be worth whipping the pump off to look behind it.  A gap in the gasket would be very obvious.

I had the same problem its the sump rubber needs changing I clean'd mine down and could just see it leaking when the engine was hot when cold nothing, if yours it the twin sump it easy to change, if you have the same as mine its not easy to chang as its all in one and have to lift enine out a bit to gt to all the bolts. :-[
