whatever you do, do not start it again.

Best thing to do is to strip it down to take the cambelt cover off - will take you about an hour : take a piccie and we can confirm for you.

if the belt has slipped start praying....

Interesting, I bought one with jumped cambelt (I do not know if that is different from slipped cambelt, but I would doubt it) and there was NO damage to the engine, when I disassembled it I discovered that there are grooves in all piston where the valves are, so at no point any of the valves will be in contact with the pistons...

You sure you weren't just looking at a standard concave piston top?

I've broken many V6s where the tensioners have packed up or the belt has snapped and the valves have hit the pistons.
