Difference between MV6 and Elite Engines
« on: 12 October 2009, 12:44:07 »

Can anyone let me know the difference between the MV6 engine and a 3,0L Elite? As I understand it is the Cams and I might have got one to go in my MV6? But need to know what I need to change.
Thanks

3.0 MV6 & 3.0 Elite are both exactly the same!  ;) ;) ;) MV6 is stiffer in the suspension though.  :y

Engine wise, exactly the same. x-plod engines as the same as well, all they have is a bigger alternator.

As other have said, no difference between engines. There are rumours some ex-plod are chipped, but yet to see one myself (that hasn't been chipped privately)

Indeed, not chipped but, they have a different ratio diff which helps acceleration at the expense of top end speed.

Any figures on that - ratios, revs at speeds, etc?
There are hints in my car's history of it being ex-plod, but somehow, I'm not totally convinced.

If its a manual, then 3000rpm is 70mph in 5th, otherwise its more 2500rpm in 5th.

?, Mines about 2600rpm at 70, and thats an 3.0 MV6 manual estate, non plod, there are a few 2.6 MV6 around and Ive heard of a few 2.5 (so called Mv6's explod) but not many, maybe thats where you have heard about the Cam upgrade thing (ie, fitting 3.0 cams into a 2.5/6)?
