Blocked windscreen washer jets
« on: 17 October 2009, 12:38:34 »

My windscreen washer jets are blocked up. Is the problem likely to be with the jet or at the washer bottle?

How do you go about cleaning out the washer jets?

I know there is a prefacelift guide, but I couldn't really work out where to start on the facelift.

Any help very much appreciated.

use a pin in the hole and keep putting the washer on until it come out good. by way should never put washing up liquid in the system as it can clog up the pipes and jets. :y

It could be either, although it's often the strainer fitted to the washer bottle that gunges up & blocks the pumps suction.
Preface lift - Facelift ..... same set up, you just don't have a grille to remove to get to the pump & bottle on later cars. The washer pump is just a push fit into the grommet in the bottle. Remove the pump & the grommet it seals against and give the filter/strainer a good cleaning. You'll more than likely be sorted then.  :y

If you can get to an airline then with the pipes disconnected at the pump end, blow BACKWARDS from thh washer jet with the airline to remove crap ... it comes out of the bigger feed pipe hole far easier than out of the small jet !!!

Hi
On my car the washer hose kinked in the area of the bonnet hinge, its worth checking there.

Elite now gone.  Bought an X-Type 4x4.  If there had been an Omega 4x4 I would have bought that instead.  We really liked the Omega, but I wanted 4x4.

It is one nozzle blocked on each side.

Apologies for asking - but whereabouts is the washer bottle - somewhere near the front bumper?

Behind it. You can see it when you lift the bonnet.  :y
