WHAT TYPE OIL

is fully synth engine oil ok for a 2.2 deisel,  how many litres does it take...thnx

10w40 semi synth is good enough, wont do any harm to put fully synth in, other than waist money of course.....:-)

thnx, although, someone told me if i put fully synth in and the oil in previous is not synth ..then it will react and make it turn to goo...any truth in it

Nope. And don't believe that fully synth will last 20k in a diesel (or petrol fro that matter). It will, like semi synth, last 4-5k in a diesel, and around 7k in a petrol.

why would putting fullly synth in be a waste  of money? out of interest id like to understand as semi-synth is recommended?

i would've thought fully synth would be better as it is as i understand engineered to be cleaner and to better protect the engine components etc? :-?

if anyone can better explain i would appreciate it. thanx :y

semi synth offers more than enough protection for any stock Omega lump, paying for further high performance lubrication is not necessary as it will not lube the engine any further or protect it from any more ware.

Fully synth has a higher or bigger performance window that a 7k rpm 230odd bhp  motor can not reach. Add higher revs, more power, and or more heat, then it may be worth using. Depends on the performance window of the particular oil and engine your using.

just another quick question what about that semi-synth magnatec? i think that i read from the opie oils guy that it has charged polymers that causes it to cling to engine parts better? :-?

Its just marketing bull, Castrol seems to create a lot of mayo compared to other oils for V6.

For the Vx lumps, stick with GM Semi Synth.

I agree...

I used Mobil-1 0W-40 Full-Synth for a while, but then switched-back to GM 10W-40 Semi Synth which seems to be generating the least amount of mayo.

Creamy, 'mayo' like consistency which cloggs up breathers and forms under the oil filler cap.

V6 when cold creates a lot of condensation, made worse with remote starts because they idle for too long. This condensation reacts with oil to create the mayo, GM oil tends to hold well against this, Castrol + Water do not go well together.

Also made worse on short runs, as the oil never gets up to temp.

ermm ok, i check mine regularley  including changing the oil and filter today after 5k and ive never had this mayo stuff appear since buying me migger. i take it thats good :-? :-?

Yes. Its the short runs & poor breather maintenance which make it form.
