Yes lip is black plastic - had a tensioner seize on my saloon - lots of smoke and burning rubber smell!!  Completely melted plastic part of tensioner pulley and shredded belt lengthwise - bit like an elastic band left on running water pump alternator etc!!

Yup thats it. So it does come with a lip. Plastic melted all over the bearing.  Anyway one last question guys, how do I install the new bearing? Is there a position I should watch out for or is it a straight replacement job?  Thanks a lot guys!

Remove belt or whats left of it.  Buy just the tensioner pulley (around £23 on TC) - undo the 15mm nut and just swap - easy job, refit belt. :y

I guess it isnt as easy a job as expected. Bought the correct belt length and new pulley.  However, the tensioner does not seem to budge at all when I try pushing it with a spanner.  When I removed the old belt, it did move to create the slack needed for the belt to be removed. Am I missing something?? Pls help. TIA :(

Its a conventional 15mm nut - likely just needs a long bar and a bit of force to shift.  Or a big hammer particularly as its got that hot its melted the plastic shroud!!  The bolt is a captive bolt held at the back.
