Hairy exhaust
« on: 01 November 2009, 19:13:59 »

I was joining the motorway today and I put the foot down to get up to speed when there was a bang from the back of the car, and it started to sound louder.

I pulled over to have a look see and the back box had burst open and there was hair hanging out everywhere.  I drove home the last ten miles ok and other than the car being louder it seems to drive fine.

I will be trying to get a new back box tomorrow but I just want to know is it safe to drive the car in this state or am I likely to do any damage?  I would have a 40 mile drive to the place I have lined up to change it.

Thanks for your advice.

(P.S. Does it ever stop with Omegas? Always something happening!)

Its the wadding or what ever its called from the back box.

Yeah, shouldn't be a problem. My old miggy went with an almighty bang when I slipped her into 3rd and floored it on the M40. Looked round the back when I got home and thought a footballer's wife had inadvertantly been sucked into the airintake and was jammed in the backbox.
