Cambelt V6 aaarrrgghhh!

Took this week off to do the cambelt on my 2.5V  V6.
so far so good until refitting the new cambelt. Have got the infamous OOF DVD! Locking kit & Gates kit correct for this engine no. New idlers fitted (checked as correct type) Belt checked and matches old one.

With the double white lines correctly positioned at the notch on the crank. the 2 white single lines are easy to line up on banks 1&2. But the two white line for banks 3 & 4 don't even come close. The belt matches the one taken off so what am I doing wrong. I have slackened the tensioners.
note the in the first picture the marks are a notch out on 1&2 as the belt is on just for the piccies

Can't see the pics at work - but, if it's a later (post 97?) engine, you'll need to use the yellow marks on the belt, not the white ones...

did you turn that tensioner so the larger side is at the top, and see and try it again?

Ahhh! go and try that as its a '99 model mini facelift.
wondered what the yellow marks were for!

*yup that works. better get on with then.
Quick tip for anyone doing the cambelt use pegs to hold the belt on each camshaft cog! ;)

Stopped work as it is weeing down. Got the belt on.
Just need to tension and re-assemble.

Last big job I did on a car was in the 1980's for the VX Royale Camshaft and followers.
Took two of us to lift the head off!
* for the younger members thats a 2.8 straight six with Iron Block and Iron Cylinder Head.

Just a short one to say thanks again for the help.
Finally got the car running this morning. Delays due to cr4p weather.
Initially worried on starting as smoke poured out  from cam cover area  :-?
I think I got water on the drive belt causing it to slip.
After checking wiring everything seemed ok and fine when restarted.
Runs a treat. flushed and refilled with the red stuff mix and all seems fine.
Sounds marvellous at 6,500 rpm.  8-)
I'm loving it. (until the next thing goes wrong!)

From your pictures it looks like a nice new Water pump fitted too  !  :-) 
Glad you managed to fit the cam belt ok... I watched the expert Darth-Loo-Knee (the Omega God from Stoke) do mine recently...poetry in motion  :-)
