TD Engine Query
« on: 11 November 2009, 18:09:04 »

I'm looking at buying an earlier version engine as a spare for my tractor .......
I believe that this engine is designated U25DT, and now know that it has the metal-encased oil filter.

Question 1: Will it be suitable for transplant into my car, given that mine has the later X25DT unit.
Whatever, I'm pretty sure that I'll need the ECU from the donor engine to start with. (Anyone?).

Question 2: Can the oil filter assemblies be swopped-over?

As always, all advice gratefully received!

Cheers OT,
I'm sure though, that I'll need the ECU from the donor vehicle too. Basically, it's an engine/ECU transplant if my thinking's correct.
Someone on here has posted something on this very subject, but I can't find it/who posted it!

Not entiring true, me ol' mucker  ;).  In fact you have put a U25DT in an X25DT car before, retaining X25DT electrics/ecu.  Admittedly it only ran for 3hrs, but thats another (unrelated) story ;)

What you an't do is put a X25DT into a car and run U25DT ECU (well, not without replacing fuel pump).

Okay chaps, but what is the actual difference between these engines?
Further research suggests no EGR on the U25DT - anyone?

To clarify...

U25DT
No MAF
Intake temp sensor
Older FIP
Metal Oil filter housing
Bosch DDE 2.0

X25DT
MAF
No intake temp sensor (as MAF covers this)
Newer FIP
Plastic cap to oil filter
Bosch DDE2.1

There are a couple of minor differences around different brackets, and different bolts, but nothing of consequence
