Centre dash wood trim upgrade Query ?
« on: 18 November 2009, 11:41:54 »

Help appreciated.......I have an early pre-facelift CDX model 1995, with non climate control Air con control panel fitted. I want to upgrade to the wooden fascia centre trim and ashtray. Will this fit ok and will the current manual control knobs fit ok or will it just look stupid !
Thanks

it involves quite a bit of work to make it look right, it involves getting the original switch outer surrounds out from the original which are plastic welded in, then you have to grind down the lip off the wood effect appetures until flush, i then stuck the original outers to the back with epoxy putty, you will then find the wiring plugs wont slot into the back without trimming away bits of plastic, also its wise to blank off the grille bit above the controls from the back or youll have light shining through it, but the worst part is getting the switch outer surrounds off the original without damaging them,,,hope this helps,,,,good luck :y

It would be if you could get a surround from a 94/95 Elite.

Surprised that the CDx does not have it already

My first Elite was registered in Jan 06 and had the plastic wood.

Another OOF member has just made me one of these for my CD. Took him a while using some spare bits I had.

I'll be fitting it this weekend and will take some pics - if it all goes to plan that is. He then gets the plastic bits from my car and then mods his CD later.

Fingers crossed, wish us luck :y

No, the '96 MY Elite and CDX had plastic wood as standard with climate, the '94 & '95 cars had aircon not climate
