Ok, well we need a few more details to give a rough idea on price, as you can imagine it could vary greatly. What age is it? 1999 on a 'V', saloon or estate. What specification, GLS, CD, CDX?
I think the 2.0 produces 132 BHP or so, I know the 2.2 is 144 but unsure of the 2.0. It's not a great deal of power to shift a fairly large car. And especially being an auto. Once we've got some more details on the car you're going to be looking at, we can give you ideas of the most common faults etc etc.
One thing you MUST look at, is when the cambelt was last changed. It MUST be changed every 4 years or 40k miles without fail. If it fails your engine will be effectively destroyed.

2.0 GLS is base model and some will say underpowered for the weight of the car, especially with the auto box.

As joshwyatt says, check re cambelt and waterpump being done recently.  Mileage can be checked for free on http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/ if you have the latest MOT certificate number.  Omegas clock easily and hide this well!

I think there are a few members near you-ask if one will look at it for you??

Good luck and welcome  :y

It's due a cambelt change very soon then, unless it's just been done. Make sure you budget for that. What year is it? Is it the facelift model? If it is then it's not a bad price.

"It MUST be changed every 4 years or 40k miles without fail"

This bit worries me though,

How much to get them done and if its a facelift?  :-? do they still need doing this often?

All Omegas need this, not just the facelift-nothing to be worried about!!  If done in 2007, will next need in 2011 if not doing more than I guess 25k miles before then.

A club member will help do it, parts are cheap enough  :y

You need to check what the mileage was when it was done. If it was done in 07, it could have only had 40k miles on it and done 39k miles until now. It'd only cost £130 or so to get the belt done. But you also must have the tensioners and pulleys done at the same time. It's no good just replacing the belt on it's own. Ask the seller what the mileage was when it was done. If it hasn't done 40k miles since replacement in 2007, then you're ok until it's 40k miles later or 4 years later from when it was done.

You are right-but the interval is 40k or 4 years-so first check when it was last done-it is likely to have been done at 8 years-not on the mileage!  I'm guessing so.

So count the next needed change as 40k or 4 years from the last one  :y
