The 3rd pic down says

"using 2 flat blade screwdrivers, push the headrest socket retaining tabs in to release the socket"

Am I being thick here - does this mean inserting the 2 screwdrivers from the direction of the arrow - i.e towards the top of the seat, or should the tabs be pressed down from the top and the arrows are just to identify the tabs - if you can see my point?

I suspect option 1 as option 2 dosn't seem to be working.

You need to go in between the seat and the collar and push the tabs in towards where the headrest bar should be

Nope, still dont get it, sorry.

If the socket was upright (with the hole at the top as it would be with the seat in the car), I'm assuming that I go in from underneath with the blades, and not from the top between the very top and leather/fabric?

They work a bit like a barbed fishing hook. You push them in through a hole just big enough for the smaller dia to go in, the arrow head shaped bit bends inside, where the stem of the restraint goes, but then springs back to the position shown in the photo. The flatter bits (left hand side of the arrow head bit then stops the whole thing coming out of the seat.

Ok, so if I should push in the direction of the arrow the flat blades to remove them must come from underneath, mustn't they?

No, they come out of the top, same direction as the headrest comes out.

You need to be inside the back of the seat squeezing the two tabs together with pliers/etc

Got it, squeeze the tabs from inside the seat & liftout "upwards". The 2nd part is fairly obvious though.

The reason for my confusion BTW is that the Ford versions have the tabs pressed in from the opposite direction.

Took about 2 mins using my special long nosed pliers with a 90^o bend in.
