After joining OOF I took the advice and bought vx ones, anyway after 6 months the discs were warped (ok i know there is no such thing as warped discs). Anyway I think the calipers were seized, but I've bought some ATE ones and chuffed to bits with them and for the cost of £65 for pads and discs you can't go wrong.

Hold on,
Are you saying that the discs do not 'warp'?

I am looking to replace discs and pads because of steering and pedal wobble when i break from high speed.
Should i be considering something else? :-?

Warped discs are extremely rare .. there are other reasons for the "effect" that folks blame on warped discs ...

Have a read here .. might help..  :)

Do omega discs warp easy then? just a thought from a newby but have you had any work done in that area?  koz first time i did my discs pads i did not clean the hub face properly b4 fitting the disc and got judder when breaking, bit like a warped disc maybe? Also may want to budget for wear sensors as the right angle bit is brittle and breaks easy esp if its the first time you' ve done it.. Oh hang on, i still got my old discs if any good to u they are old but they look to have some meat meat on then. I got some new cheap ones from first line so just changed them anyway, they from cdx 99 pre face lift.. Are all omega discs the same size? Hope helps.

I fitted Mintex pads and discs at the front on my 99 2.5V6 and I'm very happy with them.  Mintex make a claim that their pads and discs work particularly well together, rather than mixing and matching their pads with someone else's discs or vice versa.

Saw a huge improvement straight away (even before pads had bedded in completely) over the cr*p that the previous owner had had fitted - allegedly at a Vx dealer in Northampton.  The pads I removed even had metal anti-squeal shims stuck on the back of them - I thought they went out of use the same time as the Ark...lol.

HEY!
Thanks for your experiences guys but after reading i am MORE confused about what is the best disks and pads replacement option :-/.

Vx do not manufacture and apparently Delphi and Bosch manufacture for the OEM(??!!) and Mintex also claim to manufacture for the OEM's. so what really is the difference if any... we may never know... ;)

The moral of all these stories is to use quality items, not just the cheapest pads you can get of the right size - you get what you pay for, after all.

I have been looking into the option of aftermarket brake discs and pads, are there any here comparable in quality, or better than VX brakes?    I'm thinking of Bremtech, Mintex etc, i.e. the typ you can get from ebay.

value your thoughts.

Never used Mintex, but used Brembo before on Audi and they were as good as original discs

Firstly, the likes of Mintex sell OKish stuff, and also really bad stuff.  I'll leave you to decide which the egay ones are, but as a clue, not the former...

Unless track daying it, stick to genuine, from dealer, via Tradeclub.  Yes, you can still melt them, but nowhere near as quickly as the cheap patterns...
