Elite Pete...just noticed your picture with the waeco heated seat contol fitted on the light switch console...wher did you fit the passenger side one then ?and did you ever get them all working with the leather interior.
That was there when I bought the car, it wasn't wired up to anything though.

Looked quite a sensible mounting place...I was also thinking about fitting mine on the center arm rest area where the satnav toggle was fitted,as quite an easy route for the wires to each seat.

AndyB...so does another part need to be fitted to the steering wheel body then? .......

I don't know .... that's why I asked. But the wiring from the moving switches needs to connect to the stationary column somehow.  :-/ ;)

From the look of it if you take the air bag off and look at the wheel itself the insides are cut away and the controls sit in there and stick out off the sides and then the airbag fits back in place i think  :-/ :-/ So could you not just cut a peace at sides away or drill a hole big enough to get the wireing though and then glue or grub screw the controls on the side just an idea like andy says thinking out loud.....

I dn't think the mounting of the switches will be as much a problem as it will be making the electrical connection from the switches.

If you sat the 2 wheels side by side ..the one with audio controls and the one without..what is the difference appart from no fixing points for the side audio controls ?..If it is just that then it cannot be a real problem and I can,t see why anything would require cutting about...unless the airbag fittings differ from one wheel to the other .

how do you pass a wire from the audio controls that are turning through to the static column. If the originals didn't have audio controls, there seems to me no reason for Vauxhall to have fitted a way if they then didn't use it.
This wa the whole point of my original post. If anyone had actually looked at the squib, did they think it was possible .....

Is the electrical squib on the column the main issue then ?or does the wheel have a squib fitted to its base as looking at the wheel I have in the shed it appears just like any other just without the audio button fixing screws holes

I will have a good look at my existing wheel and fittings in the week and see what is going on.
Whilst I accept VX would have not made extra bits unless there was a use,I am really at a loss to understand why it would not just be possible to unbolt one and refit another as all the electrical bits are there and when you remove the steering wheel all you take off is the electrical connecting plugs then the main bolt.....still would like to find out where those wooden door catch covers in Tunnies picture came from....never ever seen them before.
