Help. Keys in boot.

Yeah, I know, I know...

Anyway, keys are locked in the boot, and the doors are all locked too. Had a bloke round who tried a wire through the door seal and the packing tape trick. No joy.

Anyone got any *helpful* advice as to how to get into a Mig? It's pretty well sealed :)

Yes, I plan to get another key sorted as soon as this fiasco is done!!!

got any breakdown cover?  they are normally 'helpful' for this sort of incident

They helpfully wanted £52 for homestart cover, then would want me to sign a damage waiver... so they might well put a window through like I'll probably have to...

 Hi .Try pressing and pusing one of the rear windows down-wards .
 Then use a wire hanger to lift the catch.HTH

Vauxhall provided the blade pre-cut for SWMBO's Astra off chassis details ..... That'd get you in the car   :-/

A screwdriver and a metal coat hanger with a slight bend will get you in.

It might take a little fishing, but if you just prise the front door with the screwdriver a little and thread the coathanger in, you will be able to hook the button.

The packing tape trick won't work on modern cars, but I've impressed a few neighbours in years gone by with that one!

Well, phoned a lock smith, paid the price for stupidity, but a slim jim in the passenger side was how it was done... however it did take the two of them the best part of an hour. Seems the Mig is a pretty secure unit if you're unwilling to put a window through!

They did try the wire and screwdriver stuff, but the lock stubs are so small, rounded and generally of no use, they gave up on that fairly quick. Packing tape is a no go for the same reasons.

Thanks for all the answers and help. I'm off to the Vauxhall dealership to get another key cut. ;D

Commiserations mate, i've done it myself more than once, but i've got a spare ;D. Anyway, once bitten twice shy  ;)

I used to have a peugeot 605, and one morning got up at 5 and car frozen solid, so did the normal started car, put demisters on, warm water on windscreen and put wipers on intermitant and went back in to get ready, when i came back out the central locking had operated itself and locked everything, the engine had stopped and the wipers where screeching away on a dry screen.
I managed to get the spare key off my old man about an hour later, much to the annoyance of several neighbours!!! :-[
I now purchase at least two extra keys when i get a new car :y

A customer of mine has a newish Jag I'm not sure which model, but he pulled into a layby miles from home to get something out of the boot leaving the engine running, when he slammed the boot the central locking opperated, leaving him stranded on the roadside with the engine running!

He phoned up Jaguar to find out why it happened and was told it is the way the system was designed!
