Assume we are talking 2.5TD and not 2.5DTi ?, if TD only if its Manual or an Upgraded Autobox.

PM, OmegaToy or TheBoy for contact details for someone who supplies TD chips for here.

1) How old is your 2.5 TD, you UK based?
2) Is it a manual or auto?

If its an auto, the box will need upgrading to the stronger AR35, as chipping it, brings it back to full BMW spec  :)

you might be lucky if yours is an older TD as the chip is a straight plug in, otherwise its a solder job, but as others have said dont even try it if you are on an AR25 standard auto box as it wont last 5 mins :y

the last two ive fitted for others of around that year have been soldered, you may need a chip base soldered in (28 pin) to make it plug in, you should be able to get that from JPG Electronics, Shaws Row, Old Road Chesterfield, S40 2RB. :y

You get the chip-base from the people in Chesterfield.
Then 'PM' TheBoy for details of the chip supplier. It costs around 70 quid. Well worth doing bud!

28 pin dil socket. Farnell stock them http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/results.jsp?N=0&Ntk=gensearch_001&Ntt=28+pin+dil+socket&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&suggestions=false&ref=globalsearch&_requestid=90025&isGoback=false&isRedirect=false the tricky part is unsoldering the old chip before fitting the socket.

Do JPG do the job or just sell the socket?

JPG are just a component shop, they wont do the chip but should have the 28 pin socket, they wont do the job but you might be lucky & not need the base anyway, if you need it soldered & are not too far away i might be able to help :y
