I had a similar problem in my old mig.
I was told that migs don't like doing short journeys.
Or ticking over for long periods.
Take it for a good run maybe?

If it is really thick give the filler neck a real good clean and remove as much as possible. If oil has not been changed recently good excuse to do a filter and oil change then give the car a good run at speed.
Biggest problem of oil mayo is lots of short runs which doesn,t allow oil to get up to temperature and cause it to condensate in filler neck.
Post up your location or drop me a pm as assume you are from Kent(with your username) ,so I am quite happy to give a second opinion if needed.

Worst case - yes  :(

Given that you have been flushing the cooling system there could be some air still in the system (air expands more than water when it is heated) so it is worthwhile giving it a chance to work its way round the system before you assume the worst.

On the other hand, if you have been having problems with lack of heat it may have been caused by exhaust gases (from the early stages of gasket failure) causing an air lock in your heater matrix.

Mayo is common on every engine that does short journeys, its just more obvious on a V6 as it has an extended filler neck that traps water vapour......most other engines have this area 'cleaned' by the oil splashed off the cams

And the coolant system should be pressurised.....when its over pressurised you would know as the relief valve in the coolant expansion cap would open.
