Worse case you can pop it from underneath the car with a metal bar and long screwdriver (white knuckle time).

You need to push / bend the spring prong thats against the upper bonnet spindle (towards the direction of the cable) using a metal bar and asist it with a long thick screwdriver or something. Also helps if some one is with you gently wriggling the bonnet up and down,

Its one of those things that will take a couple of miniutes or half an hour, but its do'able.

You can go through the grill, if you are prepared to break the plastic tensioners at the back of the grill, it is then just a case of locating the catch and you will be open in a minute.

Agrre with Holtender...I had same probelme a few weeks back..had to break front plastic grill to gain access and still managed to skin a few knuckles.but managed to get access and spring open again. The bonnet release cable internally is a real problem on Omegas..always coming off when pulling too hard. Despite new Bonnet release cable fitted and adjusting correctly, it always seem to be a problem. GM/OPEL crap design in my opinion !  Good luck anway
Upside   ;D...I fitted a replacement cheapo Elite Irmscher grill for the damaged one courtesy of a fellow OOF member ;D ;D
