144 Immobiliser no signal
« on: 04 December 2009, 17:45:36 »

Hi,

Codes 144, 31 (No rpm signal) and 135 (Telltale (Checklight) Voltage Low) fault codes showing.
Engine spinning over but not starting. EML light flashing away to itself merrily.

Anyone ever seen this before? Have done a fair bit of work the car so wondering if I've left something off.

Work done:

Removed engine compartment relay box
Removed engine ecu
Disconnected 3 large multiplugs behind battery
Removed heat shield from abs ecu - no earth starps here is there that I missed when I unbolted it??
Removed abs ecu - had it refurbed.

Put everything all back together 4 times now.

Checked, double checked and tripple check connectors at back of battery.

Tried starting with different keys
Tried starting with top and bottom connectors off abs ecu - made no difference.

Any advice anyone or should I invest in a gallon of petrol and a match?  :o

Seriously though, I'm totally out of ideas now  :'(

EML flashing while engine is turned over is most definately Immobilser problem.

If you are certain its nothing you have done .. and the coincidence is very strong I agree .....

Might sound daft but .. check the key ??? Is the little transducer - black square thing - still in place at the base of the metal bit in the horshoe ??

On the old miggy I had a problem where it had come loose and was not in the right place, had the EML flashing lots .. .. quick dab of superglue and all was well.

Hi Entwood,

EML light is flashing with ignition on and when cranked.

I just think codes 135 and 144 maybe mean I've left something off but I'm stuffed if I know what.

Yup .. definately the immobiliser stopping the engine starting .. question is why ... :(

Immobilsor has the transducer in the key and the reader by the lock...

I'm just wondering if you've done something to the ECU in removing it and its lost its "memory" of the trasducer settings ???

If so a tech2 session is needed methinks .. :(

Hi Entwood,

Only thing I did with the ecu is unplug it - and that was with the battery disconnected.
