If you need new backing plates 'cos the retaining pins have pulled through ... someone did a repair and posted some pictures of how they fixed the problem... can't find it right now but I'll keep looking.

IIRC the backing plates are a bit like rocking horse pooh   :(

haven't found the one I'm thinking of yet .. but have found this one ...

if you know some were, were they make wings for old cars they should be able to make some new one's for you, mine went but only the holes and just put a new blank on, if it is just the hole gone you can put a blank in, just drill the hole to the same size as the blank put the blank in and on other side put the washer on and hammer them together, carn't remember were i got them but they did the trick, i think you can still get new one's vetras look the same but not sure.

Mine pulled through on my 1994 Omega so I ended up using the retaining pins, springs and keyhole washers for a Passat (put the retaining pin through from the back).

I recall reading somewhere that later Omegas changed the design so the pin is put through from behind, I don't know if the later parts could be used in the earlier backplate :-/

The early backplate was a nice design poorly executed because the keyhole in the backplate was cut / punched through very light gauge steel (It should have been reinforced). If the part numbers for the brake shoes and handbrake actuators remained the same then the later backplate is probably a straight swap.
