my mate has a vectra 2.0 sri ecotec and it seam the headgasket might be on its way out as there is brown gunge in the water he has drained twice and refilled but after say 500 miles itis still has brown gunge water running around the engine and the water tank has a strong smell of fumes it dose not overheat and no mayo on the dipstick he is thinking of trying this k seal to see if it will seal just incase it has a small gasket leak what do you pepole think :-/

what colour smoke is comming out of the exhaust?, if keeps driving with damaged engine soon be needing a new cat, there are better stuff than K seal, like stop leak or gasket renewal, they are better and dont clog up the engine, if it dose not stop it the gaskets will need replacing. would also look at the spark plugs, and pressure test the pistons.

if it where a V6, i would say Oil cooler, but for 4 pots, there is no oil cooler as such. Sounds like the HG has failed on one of the fire rings allowing oil / coolant to mix, not sure why water is not showing on the dip though.

Strong smell of fumes is a give away, have you run a compression test on each pot?

I would avoid any kind of liquid gasket seal, it will cause adverse affects in the cooling system.

what is the oil cooler on a 4 pot then tunnie ie is it not with the main rad

If the failure was on a fire ring, the piston would force combustion gasses into the coolant jacket, rather than allow oil in the water.

I suspect HG failure, due to poor coolant maintenance, between an oilway and coolant jacket...

If there are fumes in the header tank then gases are getting by the fire rings, and the only thing that will stop that is a new head gasket. Additives will just make matters worse, I'm afraid.
